The SMART Driving Technology Center will begin training engineers in intelligent and autonomous transport systems. This Kazakh–Chinese project is based at the Luban workshop at the East Kazakhstan Technical University in Oskemen. According to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, this strategic center will focus on developments in sensor systems, AI, and digital control platforms. The project is expected to strengthen the region’s scientific and technological potential and expand international cooperation. Its launch has also introduced a new academic major – SMART Technologies and Artificial Intelligence in Transport Engineering. This is already increasing the university’s appeal among both Kazakh and international applicants.
«Therefore, we hope that this engineering center will serve as a platform not only for educational initiatives but also for scientific projects, helping us achieve even greater international recognition,» said Kazakh Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education Gulzat Kobenova.
«Students here will work with advanced technologies, develop new skills,
and gain the necessary knowledge. The demand for their professions is so high
that graduates
will be able to find employment easily, and we are fully prepared to meet this
demand,» noted Murat
Muzdybayev, professor at D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University.
