Experts: Kazakhstan bolsters its global standing

Kazakhstan is a global-scale player. The country not only holds leading positions in Central Asia but is also becoming a key actor in international politics. This view was expressed by Sheradil Baktygulov, Director of the Institute for World Policy Study in the Kyrgyz Republic.  As an example, he pointed to the recent series of visits by Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the United States, China, and Russia. According to the expert, Kazakhstan is shaping a pragmatic and balanced foreign policy based on its geographic neighborhood, rich geological resources, and the geopolitical and geoeconomic initiatives of several countries.

«The role of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in world politics is pivotal. It is through Kazakhstan’s leader that the countries of Central Asia voice their hopes and their positions regarding the crises unfolding in the world,» Baktygulov said.

In recent months, the Kazakh President has made a series of visits that underscore the country’s growing diplomatic influence. This assessment was shared by Azerbaijani political analyst Anastasia Lavrina. At the Central Asia-US Summit, Washington described Kazakhstan as a stabilizing center of Central Asia. The expert notes that Kazakhstan is simultaneously advancing joint initiatives with Caucasus countries, allowing for the coordination of transit corridor development at the political level. Such an active foreign policy strengthens Astana’s position and demonstrates that Kazakhstan is deepening its partnerships with global powers.

«Today, Kazakhstan is one of the key beneficiaries of the Central Asia – U.S. format. This was particularly evident during the meeting in Washington, where the U.S. identified Kazakhstan as a stabilizing center in the region and a strategic partner in energy, logistics, and the climate agenda. Amid growing coordination among the Central Asian countries, Kazakhstan is effectively becoming the coordinator of collective initiatives in cooperation with the U.S.,» noted Lavrina, who is also a research fellow at the Institute for Development and Diplomacy at the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy University.
