Young people demonstrated particularly strong engagement
in the referendum in Kazakhstan. According to international observers, this was
an opportunity to express their views and a conscious step toward strengthening
democracy. Moreover, it reflects the younger generation’s desire to be actively
involved in public processes and serves as evidence of a responsible attitude
toward the country’s future.
«We have seen strong interest in the referendum among the younger generation. This shows that young people have an active civic stance and care about what the country’s Basic Law will be, » said Oleg Kopylov, head of the SCO Observation Mission, SCO Deputy Secretary General.
«Youth engagement is very high. We saw a large number
of national observers at polling stations, more than 90 percent of whom were
young people representing a wide range of public organizations, » noted Dmitry Kobitsky,
Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council.
