Kazakhstan remains a key partner for the European Union. This was stated by EU Special Envoy for Sanctions David O’Sullivan, who is currently in Astana. He noted the readiness to deepen cooperation with Astana, including the possible simplification of the visa regime. The high-level guest emphasized that there is still much work to be done; however, it is already clear that the partnership between Kazakhstan and the European Union is reaching a qualitatively new level. In addition, the EU is the country’s largest trading partner. Bilateral trade turnover reaches €45 billion annually, and this is by no means the limit, David O’Sullivan noted.
«This was a visit as
part of my regular contacts with the Kazakh authorities. I’m very happy with that collaboration. We’ve discussed a wide range of issues, particularly
concerning the battlefield products. Of course, there are still issues, there’s work to be done on
both sides, and that work will continue, but this was a very useful visit,
which confirmed the generally good cooperation that we have with Kazakhstan on
this difficult issue of sanctions,» David
O’Sullivan noted.
