The development of transport logistics is one of the key elements in Kazakhstan’s transition to a new economic model. At an expanded government meeting, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the importance of this sector in today’s global competitive environment. Railways could become a new pillar of the economy, currently accounting for 60% of the country’s freight turnover. To increase the sector’s potential and ensure transparency, the President instructed that the process of providing freight cars by the national railway operator be digitized. A reform of the railway tariff policy will also be carried out. The government will closely oversee road transport projects. President Tokayev instructed to launch a digital platform to manage road traffic flows using artificial intelligence before the end of the year. Customs procedures will also be optimized through digital solutions.
«Appropriate
integration with the information systems of neighboring countries must be
ensured. In my state-of-the-nation
address, I instructed the introduction of the
Smart Cargo digital freight management platform and the Keden customs clearance
system. They are already operational, but only in pilot mode. Their full launch
should
be accelerated, with the integration of all government information systems to
create a unified intelligent transport ecosystem,» Tokayev
said.
