Almaty’s economy is demonstrating positive momentum.
In the first two months of the year, GDP rose by 9.5%, driven primarily by
industry, construction, transport, and trade. The city’s mayor, Darkhan
Satybaldy, briefed President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the socio-economic
situation and progress on priority development initiatives. According to him,
the city’s investment portfolio totals around 3 trillion tenge. The city’s
master plan is being finalized, tourism is actively expanding, and a mountain
cluster is under development. Almaty also continues to lead the nation’s IT
sector. President Tokayev has instructed to expedite the creation of Almaty AI
Park and accelerate implementation of the LRT and SkyTrain projects.
