Measures to implement the provisions of Kazakhstan’s
new Constitution were discussed at a government meeting. The Basic Law defines
the country’s long-term strategic development and lays the foundation for
systemic reforms. As part of the reforms, Kazakhstan plans to adopt five new
constitutional laws and adjust eight existing ones, as well as amend more than
60 laws, including codes. The key objective is to strengthen the protection of
human rights and freedoms.
«In accordance with the instructions of the
Head of State, the Government, together with the Parliament, must promptly
bring a number of laws and subordinate acts into compliance with the new Constitution. It is necessary to
develop and approve an Action Plan for promoting the Constitution, which envisages
its mass publication and placement on publicly accessible electronic platforms.
It is also essential to intensify informational and explanatory work regarding
the country’s new Basic Law,» said Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.
The new Constitution aims to strengthen political stability and open up additional opportunities for economic and social modernization. Among the key priorities are the development of human capital, science and culture, the digital environment, and environmental security.
«I congratulate all Kazakh citizens on this
historic event - the adoption of the new Constitution at the nationwide referendum. This marks a pivotal moment in
Kazakhstan’s modern history. The country’s comprehensive transformation, led by
the Head of State and strongly supported by society, is making Kazakhstan more
resilient to any challenges. We are witnessing recognition by the international community of
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s leadership and the progressive nature of the
adopted Constitution. This underscores Kazakhstan’s high standing and the
success of the ongoing reforms,» Bektenov noted.
