Kazakhstan has improved its position in the ranking of
the world’s most powerful passports. According to the Henley Passport Index,
the country placed 61st in 2026. Currently, Kazakhstan’s passport allows visa-free
access to 78 countries.
The Henley Passport Index measures freedom of movement, covering around
200 passports and 227 travel destinations worldwide. Singapore tops the list,
with its citizens enjoying visa-free access to 192 countries. Japan and South
Korea share second place, while Denmark, Luxembourg, Spain, Sweden and
Switzerland share third, each with access to 186 destinations. Experts say
Kazakhstan’s rise in the ranking reflects the country’s growing international
standing and proactive foreign policy. Analysts point out that 2025 was marked
by a series of diplomatic visits during which Kazakhstan strengthened dialogue
with key global political
centers – Moscow, Beijing,
and Washington. This, in turn, helped boost the country’s investment appeal.
«Kazakhstan is
already recognized as a steadily developing state. Our current
image reflects a country progressing positively. The result of all these visits
by the Head of State in 2025 was the attraction of a large amount of
investment. This is approximately $70 billion. This is a substantial gain for the economy, not only
in monetary terms,» said Assel Nazarbetova, Head of the KazISS Representative Office in Almaty.
