Foreign media cover draft of Kazakhstan’s new Constitution

The draft of Kazakhstan’s Basic Law continues to be discussed abroad. The American media outlet Eurasianet has published an extended article on the key amendments to the Constitution. Among them are the transition to a unicameral Parliament, the restoration of the post of Vice President, the strengthening of provisions on sovereignty, and the expansion of social guarantees. Experts emphasize that the success of the Constitution will depend not only on the text, but also on how effectively the new institutions function in practice while maintaining the country’s stability.

Kyrgyz analysts share the same view. In an article by the news agency Eurasia Today, the draft new Constitution is described as the most significant event in Kazakhstan’s political history. The upcoming referendum is expected to determine the country’s future model of governance and enshrine new principles of interaction between the state, society, and government institutions.
