Foreign experts share views on constitutional reform in Kazakhstan

A unicameral Parliament - this model of governance allows decisions to be made faster and more efficiently. This, in turn, is important for economic development and the implementation of social reforms. This opinion was expressed by Kyrgyz political analyst Almaz Tazhybai. He also considers clearer political accountability and a diversity of party coalitions in the Kurultai among the advantages of a unicameral Parliament.

«In Kazakhstan, a unicameral Parliament is needed to enable faster decision-making. This is especially important since Kazakhstan is considered the most economically developed country in Central Asia and aims to achieve breakthroughs in various areas, including the economy and social life,» noted political analyst  Almaz Tazhybai, the Kyrgyz Republic.

According to the expert, one of the innovations in the draft new Constitution is the introduction of the position of Vice President. This would allow the Head of State to distribute powers within the government without disrupting the existing system of checks and balances. The Vice President would be able to oversee specific areas of government work but would not replace the Prime Minister or the Speaker of Parliament in the hierarchy of power.
