CRC: Kazakhstan adopts new Constitution

The Central Referendum Commission of Kazakhstan announced the results of the referendum on the draft new Constitution. A total of 9,127,192 people participated, representing over 73% of registered voters. More than 87% of Kazakh citizens cast their ballots in favor of the proposal submitted to the referendum - the adoption of the country’s new Constitution.

«At the same time, a majority of citizens in each region supported the proposal. Thus, the legal requirement that a positive outcome be backed by more than half of the voters in at least two-thirds of the country’s 20 regions has been met. Accordingly, the new Constitution is considered adopted,» said Nurlan Abdirov, Chairman of the Kazakh Central Referendum Commission.
