Akorda ceremony marks Constitution adoption

A ceremony marking the adoption of Kazakhstan’s Constitution was held at the Akorda Presidential Palace in Astana. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed the text of the country’s Basic Law and issued a decree outlining measures for its implementation. According to the Head of State, the new Constitution will officially come into force on July 1, while March 15 will be observed nationwide as a public holiday.

«The final document is the result of tireless collective efforts. United as one people, we have opened a new era in the nation’s history, embarking on transformations that are unique in their quality and substance. A nationwide referendum was held at a high level and resonated strongly with citizens. Our compatriots made their choice, supporting the path of renewal and modernization with their votes. At this important moment, the people of Kazakhstan demonstrated solidarity and made a meaningful contribution to achieving our common goal,» Tokayev said.

The President also expressed special gratitude to the youth, on whom he places great hopes. He emphasized that the younger generation is destined to transform the country into one of the most progressive and advanced in the world. The adopted People’s Constitution is intended to serve as the main guiding framework for future generations. President Tokayev also highlighted the extensive and effective work of the Constitutional Commission, as well as the contributions of members of the National Coalition, who carried out high-level public information and awareness efforts on the content of the fundamental document. He also acknowledged the strong civic responsibility of social activists and volunteers.
