Kazakhstan strengthens its position as regional educational hub

Kazakhstan is strengthening its position as a regional educational hub. The number of international students choosing the country’s universities continues to grow. Among them is a student from South Korea, Jang Soon, whom his friends call Zhandos. His goal is to speak Kazakh fluently.

At the international campus of Woosong University, recently opened in Turkistan, many South Korean students are currently enrolled. Together with Kazakh students, they are pursuing modern and in-demand fields of study.

«We first learned about the opening of the university campus in your country while still in South Korea. I thought, why not study abroad and gain knowledge in another country? At first, I wanted to get to know local students better and spend time having fun together. However, I noticed that they are very focused on their studies, which motivated me to pay more attention to my own classes as well,» said Kim SeungJin, student from the Republic of Korea.

«Here, training is conducted in English. Students have access to high-quality IT education. Why do we offer programs in these fields? Because it is a demand of the times. Our branch will become a center for preparing in-demand specialists in the field of AI,» noted Yergali Berdibayev, professor of AI & data science at Woosong University.

Today, more than 1,200 international students are studying in Turkistan, mostly from Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Yakutia, and South Korea. They choose majors in medicine and healthcare, engineering, IT, as well as in the natural sciences and humanities.
