Kazakhstan improves position in global human capital rankings

Kazakhstan has improved its position in global human capital rankings. In the updated World Bank index, the country climbed 13 places last year, ranking 42nd out of 161 countries. Kazakhstan placed ahead of several European and Asian nations, including Argentina, Malaysia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, China, Moldova, Greece, Bulgaria, Italy, and Türkiye. The country is also noted as a leader among Central Asian states. The human capital index for the region’s countries does not exceed 200 points. According to experts, this is a significant achievement, as human capital indicators tend to change gradually. They depend on key factors in social development, including the quality of education, the state of healthcare systems, and life expectancy.

«Kazakhstans rise was driven by the education and employment component. To ensure further growth in this ranking, it is crucial to work on the quality of education and its alignment with labor market requirements. The Head of State has also stated that education is key today. A knowledge-based economy is the foundation for any countrys development said Yuliya Kuchinskaya, member of the Mazhilis, the lower house of the Kazakh Parliament.
