Kazakh diplomas will gain broader international recognition. The Senate, the upper house of Parliament, has ratified the Asia-Pacific Regional Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications in Higher Education, developed under the auspices of UNESCO. The document establishes common standards for the assessment and recognition of diplomas among China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Mongolia, and other countries. The law is also expected to enhance student mobility and deepen the integration of higher education systems in Kazakhstan and across Central Asia. Ratification of the convention also marks Kazakhstan’s accession to the network of national information centers. It is an international platform for the exchange of information on verifying the authenticity of foreign diplomas. The convention also opens up new markets for the export of educational services provided by Kazakh universities.
«The law provides for the development of cooperation among the parties
in the field of higher education. In particular, the Convention’s provisions
are aimed at ensuring transparent and timely assessment of qualifications among
the signatory countries. The approval of the law is expected to further strengthen
partnerships between participating states and enhance the standing of the
country’s education system,» said Senate Chairman
Maulen Ashimbayev.
