Referendum 2026: Voting in regions

Over 10,000 polling stations are operating across Kazakhstan today. At some, small lines have formed as people vote on the draft new Constitution. Residents of the Kyzylorda region are also casting their ballots. On this day, 105-year-old war veteran Yakhiya Tassyrov came to a polling station. By doing so, the respected elder set an example for others. Tassyrov says he remains active in public life.

«I voted in the referendum. I want our country to always be at peace, and I wish Kazakhstan prosperityTassyrov said.

The day of the national referendum became a double celebration for the Mukhtarov family from the Mangystau region. This morning, they welcomed their ninth child — a true batyr, weighing more than four kilograms. He was given the symbolic name Atazan, which translates as «Basic Law». The parents say they chose the name intentionally. They believe their son’s fate will be as strong and reliable as the Constitution on which our state is built.

«I’m overjoyed. Today, on this special day, our baby was born. At a family meeting, we decided to name him Atazansaid Ainur Mukhtarova, the mother.
