Kazakhstan to launch registry of creative industry entities

Kazakhstan plans to create a unified registry of creative professionals. It will include figures from culture, film, music, design, and other fields. Amendments to the law on supporting and developing the creative industries were considered in the Senate, the Upper House of the Kazakh Parliament. According to MP Aigul Kapbarova, the online registry will enable the state to more effectively support promising projects and representatives of the creative sector. Regional authorities will gain additional tools to assist talented individuals and foster creative entrepreneurship at the local level.

«Since 2024, a special retail tax of 2–4% has been introduced for certain activities in the creative industries. This measure has already proven effective: within one year, the number of industry participants increased by 17%. Following the President’s directive, creative centers have now been opened in all regions of the country. This enables the development of the creative industry not only in major cities but also at the regional level. By 2029, the sector’s share of the country’s GDP is planned to reach 2%, export volume is expected to grow to $115 million, and employment in the industry is projected to increase to 180,000 people,» said Senate Member Ruslan Rustemov.
