Kazakhstan to host WPC Energy Congress in 2028

In 2028, Astana will host the WPC Energy Congress. The organization unites countries that account for up to 96% of global oil production and consumption. At the 44th meeting of the Council of the KAZENERGY Association, participants discussed preparations for the upcoming forum and issues related to effective planning of mineral resources. Analysts note that the global energy sector is undergoing significant transformations amid the rapid development of artificial intelligence. Growing demand for computing power is increasing energy needs and prompting a reassessment of global approaches. Experts report that global oil production has approached 100 million barrels per day. The key topic of the 2026 Congress in Riyadh will be decarbonization, while Astana-2028 agenda will focus on new directions for the development of global energy.

«In 2026, the congress will be held in Saudi Arabia, and in 2028 it will take place in Astana. This is the world’s largest industry platform, bringing together leading experts and practitioners. We expect around 100 ministers to take part. Technologies are developing at a rapid pace: if we fail to address them today, it could be too late tomorrow. That is why it is so important to be part of these processes, to observe and learn,» noted Jambulat Sarsenov, Deputy Chairman of the KAZENERGY Association.
