State Counsellor Erlan Karin cast his vote at polling station No. 129 in the National Academic Library in Astana. He noted that today’s referendum marks the culmination of over six months of public discussions on constitutional reform. According to him, it is the citizens who decide what kind of society we will build and based on which values our country will develop.
«Over
189 days, thousands of citizens, experts, and public figures participated in
the discussions. During this time, we witnessed strong civic engagement and
broad citizen participation. Essentially, this referendum will shape the future
of Kazakhstan. This is already the third referendum in the past four years, and
the presidential principle of making key decisions through a nationwide
referendum is becoming a norm in our political life. In this regard, Kazakhstan
sets an example of constructive, inclusive dialogue and demonstrates a high
level of political and social activity,» Karin said.
