Ambassadors of the United
States and Bulgaria presented their credentials to the President of Kazakhstan
in a ceremony held today at Akorda.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated the ambassadors on the start of their missions and expressed his interest in further developing partnerships with both countries, extending his best wishes to their heads of state. Addressing the Bulgarian ambassador, President Tokayev noted that President Rumen Radev’s visit to Kazakhstan last year gave a significant boost to bilateral relations. He emphasized Kazakhstan’s interest in deepening cooperation with Bulgaria in both political and economic spheres. The Head of State also highlighted Kazakh-U.S. relations. During a conversation with U.S. Ambassador to Kazakhstan Julie Stufft, he recalled the importance and success of his visit to the U.S. in November last year. He also mentioned a recent phone call with Donald Trump, during which a wide range of cooperation issues was discussed. President Tokayev expressed gratitude for the invitation to the G20 summit, scheduled to take place later this year in the U.S., and affirmed that every effort would be made to maintain and strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries.
«The United
States and Kazakhstan have a very long relationship, actually the longest
relationship. We were the first country to recognize Kazakhstan’s independence,
and this partnership is as strong as it’s ever been. Our Presidents, President
Tokayev and President Trump, have a very close relationship and they speak
frequently. They will see each other again soon and speak again soon, I am
sure. I’ve just met with President Tokayev, and we talked about our priorities
for this bilateral relationship. And I know we have the full support of
President Trump in doing that and very excited to expand this relationship with
the support of both Presidents,» Stufft said.
