President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s interview with Turkistan newspaper marked the start of a new political year and sent a clear signal to society about the direction the country will take. This view was expressed by Kazakhstan Institute for Social Development Board Chair Zhuldyzai Iskakova. According to her, the interview is particularly significant because it explains the logic behind the reforms to Kazakh citizens. This enables a clear dialogue without uncertainty, as the key directions have already been set. This is especially important in a year that could prove decisive for the country.
«What impressed me most was the President’s emphasis on the seriousness of the political intentions to implement reforms in the country. Work on the new Tax Code began last year, marking a new phase of budgetary discipline. This is a change in tariff policy. This is the announcement of political reforms. Most importantly, the President highlighted the unified logic behind all these reforms,» Iskakova said.
Digital technologies are no longer optional tools—they have become an integral part of our lives. The importance of artificial intelligence (AI) cannot be overstated. It must now be applied across all areas of life, as any delay could leave the country behind, widening the technological gap. This is a point consistently emphasized by President Tokayev. According to Professor Kunsulu Zakarya, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Kazakhstan is currently at a stage of development that directly affects the pace of technological change and the competitiveness of the national economy. For this reason, she notes, the state must place special emphasis on promoting innovation.
«According to McKinsey’s 2025 report, over 60% of the
world’s gross domestic product already depends on digital technologies, and
this share continues to grow annually. The report itself further confirms the
large-scale strategic course outlined by the Head of State. The world is
changing rapidly. The phrase «the future will come» has already lost its
meaning — the future is already here,» Zakarya said.
