Kassym-Jomart Tokayev personally involved in drafting new Constitution

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was personally involved in drafting the new Constitution, Aibek Dadebay, Head of the Presidential Administration, said in an interview with our TV channel. According to him, work on the draft Basic Law was conducted intensively and with the direct involvement of the Head of State. The President deliberately set aside time to review the document in detail, examined proposals from citizens, experts, and public organizations, and, together with his advisers, worked on revising the Preamble, sections, and articles of the new Constitution.

«Over the past six months, the President has held meetings at least once a week and sometimes even more frequently, first with representatives and leaders of the parliamentary reform working group, and later with the heads of the Constitutional Commission. Some of these meetings lasted for more than an hour, which in itself reflects the intensity and pace of the work. The draft new Constitution clearly embodies the key principles of the Head of State’s political course, his vision of the model of governance, the balance between the branches of power, and the directions for societal development. Therefore, it is fair to say that President Tokayev is the main author of the country’s new Constitution,» said Head of the Kazakh Presidential Administration Aibek Dadebay.

Intensive preparations for the nationwide referendum are currently underway, Aibek Dadebay noted. A key role is being played by the Central Referendum Commission.

«Given the strategic importance of the upcoming vote for both the state and every citizen, ensuring full compliance with all procedures and norms is a top priority. In this regard, the Central Referendum Commission plays a key role. The main task of state bodies is to provide the necessary infrastructure for voting, ensure the proper functioning of polling stations, and create accessible conditions for citizens with disabilities,» Dadebay noted.
