Digital Qazaqstan strategy to be presented in 2026

The Digital Qazaqstan strategy will be presented in the country in 2026. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2025. The strategy is aimed at large-scale digitalization and the comprehensive implementation of AI across Kazakhstan. Therefore, specialists intend to reassess all previous digital approaches and introduce new ones that will enable the widespread adoption of AI technologies. When drafting the document, specialists will draw on international experience. The Digital Qazaqstan strategy will cover ten areas, including education, healthcare, the digital economy and government services, as well as robotics and the startup ecosystem.

«These four areas will directly drive social and crucial economic growth for our country. The remaining six areas are the foundation the basis without which technological advancement is impossible. As I mentioned, we need to rethink everything: data management, data centers, systems, infrastructure, and cybersecurity. In Digital Qazaqstan, we’re outlining several stages. First, we’re analyzing the current situation this work is already underway. Second, we’re identifying the technological changes needed, including replacing outdated systems still in use,» said Digital Government Support Center CEO Bakhtiyar Mukhametkaliyev.

Experts say the strategy’s implementation will accelerate economic growth through AI. High-tech industries will emerge in the country. Furthermore, automation of processes and the introduction of digital services will increase labor productivity. The time required to provide government services will also be reduced. Overall, the Digital Qazaqstan strategy will be based on a system of national «icebreaker» projects with specific KPIs and implementation deadlines.

«We already have a pool of 300 projects. As I said, they are highly specialized and deep in certain areas. Now it is important to analyze them thoroughly, work through all requirements, and combine them into a single national project – a major icebreaker,» Mukhametkaliyev added.
