Dredging
operations have begun at the Kuryk port on the Caspian Sea in Kazakhstan. The
depth is set to be increased to five meters, with the work scheduled for
completion in June 2026. It is expected that the implementation of this
strategic project, launched as part of the development of the Trans-Caspian
route, will help increase cargo turnover and attract transit flows. Notably,
two major projects are being implemented to develop the Caspian hub in the
country - the construction of a container hub at the Aktau port and the Sarzha
multifunctional marine terminal at the Kuryk port. Both projects are included
in the Aktau Seaport special economic zone.
