Astana is embracing the festive spirit as the city prepares to welcome the New Year 2026. The capital has once again lit up with vibrant colors, as numerous New Year trees, garlands, light installations and cozy decorative displays have appeared across the city. This year, however, the focus is less on decorations and more on free public entertainment, including ice rinks, slides and photo zones. Local authorities have allocated around 365 million tenge to create the festive atmosphere, with additional decorations funded by sponsors.
«Around 40 locations have been organized for residents and visitors, each featuring illuminated New Year trees decorated with garlands. In addition, as part of the citywide decorations, work is actively under way on the main streets, with trees and building facades being dressed to create a festive atmosphere,» said Miras Abdrakhman, Deputy Head of Astana’s Internal Policy Department.
