Kazakhstan
is strengthening its status as a key transit hub between Europe and Asia. Last
year, about 37 million tonnes of cargo were transported through the country’s
territory, nearly 7% more than in 2024. Growth was driven by all modes of
transport, including road, rail,
air, and water. The road sector has
seen large-scale development, with a record 13,000 kilometres built or
repaired. In addition, 37 border crossing points are planned to be modernized by the end of 2027. Railway infrastructure is also actively developing: last year, 320 million tonnes
of cargo were transported, the second track of the Dostyk-Moiynty railway was launched, 124 railway stations were
modernized, and construction began
on the
Moiynty-Kyzylzhar line. Transit routes are also expanding in the aviation sector. More than 35 new
international routes were opened last year, and flights to Europe and Asia were
resumed.
