Silk Way Star: South Korean group Kandis leaves competition

Last weekend marked the conclusion of another qualifying round of the Silk Way Star international vocal contest. This time, contestants performed some of the most viral songs from social media over the past two years — each in their own distinctive style and arrangement. By the end of the round, Madinabonu Adilova from Uzbekistan and Alem from Kazakhstan earned the same number of points, sharing first place. After six completed stages, the Kazakh performer continues to lead the overall standings. Meanwhile, the South Korean group Kandis, which received the fewest points, has left the competition.

«This experience was very new and unique for us. First of all, meeting such talented artists from so many different countries was such an honor for us, and for us to be able to represent South Korea is also a huge honor. There is so much that we can take away from these wonderful artists, and we also hope that in return we also give them something that they can learn from. And we also hope that through this experience, K-pop reaches more people and more countries,» said Kandis.
