The share of renewable energy sources in
Kazakhstan’s electricity generation has surpassed 7%. A total of 159 wind,
hydro, and solar power plants are currently operating across the country. This
year alone, new renewable energy facilities with a combined capacity of 266
megawatts were commissioned in the Karagandy, Mangystau, Ulytau, and Kyzylorda
regions. The sector’s growth has been driven by
ongoing green technology projects and investment. According to the Ministry of
Energy, an important milestone was the first large-scale
auction for the construction of a gigawatt-class wind farm
equipped with energy storage systems. The project
will enable the creation of a more flexible and resilient power grid in the
country and the integration of new technologies.
