Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed Deputy
Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev to thoroughly develop and approve the National
Project to modernize energy and utility infrastructure by the end of the year.
The five-year project includes both the renovation of existing facilities and
the construction of new ones, with an increase in electricity generation of
over 6,000 MW. The total cost of the project is expected to exceed 10 trillion
tenge. The Head of State was also briefed on new regional policy approaches
aimed at closing gaps between regions. A project office will be established
under the government to coordinate the implementation of state programs in the
regions.
