Nauryz widely celebrated in Uzbekistan

The spring equinox holiday is also widely celebrated in Uzbekistan. On the eve of the holiday, a nationwide khashar, an ancient tradition of collective voluntary mutual assistance in Central Asia, is held. Across the country, homes and streets are cleaned, flowers and trees are planted, and sacred sites are improved. Ahead of the main Nauryz celebrations, festivals are organized, reflecting the renewal of nature, national heritage, and the unity of the people.

«We know that around the world, including in our country, the capabilities of digitalization and artificial intelligence are being widely used to improve all sectors. Navroz can be described as the «national passport» of Uzbekistan. During Navroz, people come together, forgive one another, and celebrate by preparing sumalak. More than just a traditional dish, sumalak is a symbol of unity. It is also worth noting that Navroz is a holiday that brings together people of all nations and ethnicities,» noted Adham Sukhrobov, Advisor to khokim on AI and digitalization, Uzbekistan.

Exhibitions of traditional crafts were also held as part of «Navroz sayli», along with the preparation of sumalak – a traditional dish made from sprouted wheat, oil, and flour. The festival featured musical performances and traditional sports competitions. Elders noted that traditional games hold special significance for young people, as they not only build physical strength but also foster noble qualities. The festive atmosphere was further enhanced by kite flying.

«As we can see, a festive atmosphere fills the air. This tradition, therefore, will never lose its significance - no matter how much time passes, it will remain unchanged. I congratulate our people on Navroz!» said Aziz Rajabiy, resident of Syrdarya region, Uzbekistan.
