This year, Kazakhstan will complete repairs on the Zhanaozen-Turkmenistan border section, part of the International North-South Transport Corridor, which carries cargo from Russia through Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan to Iran, Türkiye, and the EU. At the same time, four other major projects, totaling approximately 2,000 kilometres, are scheduled for completion. More than 30,000 kilometres of roads will be renovated in the country over the next three years. To achieve this, the pace and volume of roadwork are planned to increase fivefold. According to the Ministry of Transport, Kazakhstan’s road network totals approximately 95,000 kilometres, including 25,000 kilometres of national highways and about 70,000 kilometres of local roads.
«It is necessary to
actively implement artificial intelligence to ensure the quality control of
road assets. The digital transformation of the road sector should serve as a
management tool at every stage: from planning and design to operation and
maintenance. I am instructing the
Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital
Development, together with KazAvtoZhol
National Company and the Quality Center, to ensure that by the end of this year
a unified digital platform is operational for monitoring road conditions,
tracking project progress, and overseeing the use of budget funds, with
integrated data across the national, local, and urban networks,» said Kazakh Prime
Minister Olzhas Bektenov.
