Large-scale AI implementation in Kazakhstan’s education system will
begin this year. As part of this effort, the country will launch the Qazaq
Digital Mektebi project and a national educational platform with AI technologies. These projects are designed for both students and teachers. The initiative is being implemented in line with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s instructions on
digitalization of the sector. According to the Ministry of Education, a national system of digital
profiles for teachers and students will be created, and the educational
database will be modernized. Electronic diaries, journals, and learning
management systems will be integrated into a single state-owned cloud platform,
QazTech. The introduction of AI agents is expected to reduce teachers’ daily
workloads, while digital assistants will support them in preparing for
pedagogical councils and handling documentation. The Qazaq
Digital Mektebi project will be piloted in selected regions starting next
academic year. Aimed at small schools, it will use AI tutors to help students master the material in an
interactive format. In the first half of the year, a ministerial working group will develop
recommendations for legislative amendments to formally regulate the use of
neural networks in the education system.
«By 2026, more than 200,000 teachers will acquire
practical AI skills. We will also continue to improve AI literacy among
students. Thus, the government will provide the digital foundation needed to
reduce teachers’ workloads through AI agents and to simplify the delivery of
public services to citizens,» said Kazakh Vice Minister of Education Assylbek Akhmetzhanov.
