Kazakhstan will begin
training specialists in artificial intelligence and nuclear energy under the
international Bolashak scholarship program. This was announced at a meeting of
the National Commission for Training Personnel Abroad, chaired by State Counsellor
Erlan Karin. This year, the selection process was conducted under new rules and
consisted of three stages. As a result, 225 Kazakh citizens were awarded the
Bolashak scholarship. Of these, 152 will pursue master’s degrees, 16 will
enroll in doctoral programs, and 57 will undertake professional internships at
foreign universities and centers. In addition, 182 Kazakh citizens received
grants for research internships at leading global scientific and research institutions. A new category of professional internships
— «AI system users» — has also been approved for 2026. Starting next year, a
separate category for training specialists in the field of nuclear energy will
be introduced, with an annual quota of 20 scholarships.
