Kazakhstan, Switzerland aim to expand cooperation

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks with the Vice President of Switzerland, Guy Parmelin, at the Akorda residence. The Head of State noted that Guy Parmelin’s visit to Astana opens up good opportunities to give fresh momentum to the bilateral agenda. He emphasized that Kazakhstan regards Switzerland as an important political and economic partner in Europe, as well as one of the largest investors, having invested almost $36 billion into the country’s economy over the past 20 years. The President also reported that nearly 400 Swiss companies and joint ventures are currently operating in Kazakhstan. For his part, Guy Parmelin reaffirmed Switzerland’s commitment to further strengthening political dialogue with Kazakhstan and advancing initiatives across key sectors of the economy.
