Kazakhstan is developing five cross-border hubs that will serve as centers of international trade and primarily help boost trade turnover with neighboring countries. Their launch is expected to increase non-commodity exports by 30% and provide effective logistics conditions for Kazakh companies, Minister of Trade and Integration Arman Shakkaliyev said at a government meeting. He noted that the work is underway as part of the Transport and Logistics Development Concept through 2030. The network of cross-border trade and economic hubs is being built in the Zhetisu, Zhambyl, West Kazakhstan, Mangystau, and Turkistan regions. Engineering and production infrastructure is currently under development at these locations. Rail and road connections have already been brought to the hub sites.
«In
an environment of growing competition for transit routes and investment, we
must accelerate the development of our land transport infrastructure,
industrial cooperation, and trade networks. The full launch of the cross-border
hubs will significantly reduce cargo transit times, increase capacity, and
boost production volumes, tax revenues, and exports. With a systematic
approach, these projects will become points of attraction for capital and new
industries,» said Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.
