Kazakhstan, China expand cooperation in renewable energy

The Senate, the upper house of the Kazakh Parliament, approved the ratification of an agreement with China on renewable energy. Under the agreement, three major projects—wind and solar power plants—are planned for construction in the Karagandy, Pavlodar, and Turkistan regions, with total investment exceeding $2 billion. Construction is scheduled for completion between 2027 and 2029. The projects will contribute to energy security, the implementation of green technologies, and the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions.

«The combined capacity of the projects will reach 1.8 gigawatts. This volume will strengthen energy security and increase the share of green energy, as well as spur infrastructure development in several regions. These initiatives fully align with Kazakhstan’s targets for renewable energy by 2030 and the Strategy for achieving carbon neutrality by 2060 said Senate Member Sultan Dyussembinov.
