Kazakh scientists have developed new technologies for utilizing plant waste. For example, rice husks are used as roughage for livestock, containing low protein and high fiber. In addition, rice straw is used to produce activated charcoal, valuable biohumus, and even silicon dioxide - a key component in the production of glass, ceramics, and other materials.
«We extracted activated charcoal from rice
husks and straw. It is currently being used in water purification filters, and
this method is undergoing testing. In addition, a technology has been developed
to extract silicon dioxide from rice husks, which is used in glass production,» said Saken Kanzhar, engineer at the
physical-chemical laboratory.
