At
a plenary session, the Mazhilis, the lower house of the Kazakh Parliament,
ratified two documents related to the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). The first agreement establishes uniform
rules for determining and confirming the origin of goods exported outside the
Union. It is intended to unify
the approaches of EAEU member states to confirming the country of origin of
exported goods and ensures
a unified control procedure. Ratifying the agreement will also make it possible
to monitor the export of domestic products from other Union
countries, particularly items subject to bans and restrictions imposed by
Kazakhstan. The Mazhilis also ratified amendments to the
EAEU’s product control rules, which relate to monitoring compliance with the
Union’s technical regulations. Overall, the document clarifies the wording of the
Agreement.
«To eliminate discrepancies between EAEU law and the
national legislation of member states, and to minimize reputational risks for
entrepreneurs, a Protocol amending the Agreement was signed in Moscow on May 8,
2024. The key changes include clarified wording: throughout the text, the term
‘dangerous products’ has been replaced with ‘products that do not comply with
the Union’s technical regulations,’» said Kazakh Vice Minister of Trade and Integration
Aidar Abildabekov.
