Four new pharmaceutical plants to be built in Kazakhstan

Four pharmaceutical plants will be built in Kazakhstan. The government has approved investment agreements between the Health Ministry and four companies, attracting a total of 173 billion tenge. As a result, production of 356 new medications, including socially important drugs, will be established in the country. The plants will be constructed in Almaty and in special economic zones in the Turkistan and Almaty regions. Major pharmaceutical companies from China, Türkiye, and Romania are strategic partners in the projects. Notably, Kazakhstan has been systematically working to expand domestic pharmaceutical production in line with directives from President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

«The production portfolio includes immunobiological drugs, medications for treating cancer and diabetes, as well as antiviral, pain-relief, anti-inflammatory, and other drugs. Notably, 72 socially important medications are planned for production. These projects will significantly increase the share of domestically produced pharmaceuticals in Kazakhstan, reduce reliance on imports, and ensure the population has access to affordable, high-quality medicines,» said Aslan Kinayatov, Director of the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Department, Kazakh Health Ministry.
