Today, a special festive atmosphere with a distinct national flavor prevailed at the referendum polling stations. For example, polling station No. 60 was decorated with traditional elements, ornaments, and patterns. Most importantly, a vibrant cultural program was organized there. A veterans’ folk choir performed a concert featuring well-known Kazakh songs for voters. Many of those who had cast their ballots stopped to watch and applauded the performers.
«Today is an important event, and we would like to fulfill our civic duty, as the referendum is taking place. We also wanted to showcase our art at the House of Friendship. We are happy to participate and have prepared a one-hour program,» shared Karlygash Akhmetova, member of the Elorda folk choir.
The festive mood here is created not only by the music and lively atmosphere, but also by notable guests. Celebrities and athletes are coming to the polling station to cast their votes and show support for this important national event. Among them is Kazakh weightlifter and four-time world champion Ilya Ilyin.
«I am an active citizen of my country and always take part in events like this - referendums and elections. Today we are at the House of Friendship for the future of our multinational Kazakhstan, so that we can live here in peace and harmony, always under an open shanyrak,» said Ilya Ilyin, Kazakh weightlifter and four-time world champion.
A festive atmosphere can also be
felt at other polling stations. At the first polling station in the capital,
those coming to exercise their civic duty are treated to baursaks and hot tea
to warm up in the cool weather. Many come with their families, talk with one
another, and share their impressions. After voting, residents take photos in a
special outdoor photo frame marking this historic day, when the Kazakh people
are making an important decision about the country’s future, and share the
pictures on social media.
