Kazakh citizens residing abroad will also be able to take part in the referendum on March 15. According to the Central Referendum Commission, 71 polling stations will be opened in 54 countries for more than 14,000 Kazakh citizens. One of them will operate in Belgium. Experts in that country are closely monitoring the reforms being carried out in Kazakhstan. The President of the Press Club Brussels Europe, António Buscardini, particularly noted the country’s initiative to transition to a unicameral Parliament, describing it as a sign of the state’s maturity and an important step toward strengthening democracy. In his opinion, such a system will ensure a better balance of power and enhance the work of the legislative body.

«This balance of power between the presidential terms and the parliament is a reflection that after more than 30 years, there is a maturity in the state as well to move forward to this bold statement of having one chamber. It will be very interesting to follow to see what will be next, but it is a process that definitely will reinforce democracy and the parliament representativity,» noted António Buscardini, President of the Press Club Brussels Europe.
