Kazakhstan, Indonesia aim to boost trade turnover to $1 billion

Kazakhstan and Indonesia aim to increase their bilateral trade turnover to $1 billion, Ambassador Mochamad Fadjroel Rachman announced at a diplomatic reception in Astana marking the 80th anniversary of Indonesia’s independence. According to him, the two countries are actively developing cooperation in areas such as energy, digital technologies, science, and tourism. Regarding tourism, Indonesia is currently considering easing the visa regime for Kazakh citizens. Last year alone, 25,000 tourists from Kazakhstan visited Bali. Overall, Nusantara and Astana plan to expand their partnership across 15 areas. In addition, Indonesia, as a member of ASEAN, is interested in establishing a free trade zone with the Eurasian Economic Union. Negotiations on this matter are already nearing completion, the ambassador assured.

«So, if this free trade agreement is signed by both parties, Indonesia and Eurasia, hopefully we could scale up our economic relation between Kazakhstan and Indonesia to $1 billion or $1.5 billion. And we are also waiting now for the signing of MoU between Indonesia and Kazakhstan on energy, oil, on minerals, and also digitals,» the ambassador added.
