Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan to develop green energy

Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan will develop joint green energy projects and export clean electricity to international markets. The Mazhilis, the lower house of the Kazakh Parliament, has ratified a Strategic Partnership Agreement aimed at creating a sustainable model for trilateral energy cooperation and fostering long-term collaboration in renewable energy. To supply green electricity to Europe, plans include linking the region’s energy systems with Azerbaijan. A feasibility study for the project, estimated at around €1 million, is already underway.

«The key element of the project is the laying of a high-voltage direct current (HVDC) submarine cable along the bottom of the Caspian Sea. This technically complex yet strategically important solution will provide direct access to the European Union’s electricity market. The project is currently in an active implementation phase under a memorandum signed by the energy ministries of the three countries, in cooperation with the Asian Development Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank,» said Kazakh Minister of Energy Yerlan Akkenzhenov.
