Kazakh President’s working visit to Zhambyl region

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev paid a working visit to the Zhambyl region, where he toured a number of enterprises and familiarized himself with the operations of pharmaceutical companies. Amir & D manufactures medicines as well as various types of rapid tests for diagnosing hepatitis B and C, HIV, myocardial infarction, and a number of other diseases. Another enterprise, Super-pharm, produces medical masks, disposable protective clothing, syringes, and blood transfusion systems. The company supplies about one third of the country’s total demand for disposable medical products. The Head of State noted that it is important to continue developing the domestic pharmaceutical industry, as this will help reduce dependence on imports.

President Tokayev also visited the Taraz small industrial zone, where he was briefed on the region’s development. Since the beginning of the year, around 600 billion tenge in investment has been attracted to the region. Over the past two years, 56 investment projects worth 242 billion tenge have been implemented, including a mineral fertilizer production facility. President Tokayev was also informed about the construction of a metallurgical plant and the implementation of the large-scale EuroChem-Karatau investment project in Zhanatas. Commissioning works for sulfuric acid production are currently underway at the new plant. In addition, the President was shown agricultural machinery to be produced within the industrial zone, as well as a tempered glass manufacturing plant.

The Head of State also visited a specialized military boarding school in Taraz. One of the school’s key objectives is the military-patriotic education of future defenders of the nation. Speaking with students, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that the state places special importance on the development of the military education system and presented the school with a portrait of Bauyrzhan Momyshuly as well as a school bus. The President then visited the only arrhythmology clinic in the Zhambyl region, where residents receive a full range of cardiology and cardiac surgery services.
