Kazakh government discusses key oil and gas projects

Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov met with ExxonMobil Senior Vice President Peter Larden to discuss cooperation in the oil and gas sector, including the Tengiz and Kashagan fields and the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC). Bektenov expressed concern over the situation at Tengiz, stressing the need for the prompt elimination of the incident’s consequences and the prevention of similar accidents in the future. The parties reaffirmed their interest in the stable operation of the CPC and discussed measures to improve the efficiency of field development and advance geological exploration. Special attention was paid to production plans. In 2025, oil output at Tengiz exceeded 39 million tonnes, while production at Kashagan surpassed 18 million tonnes. Total shipments via the CPC reached 70.5 million tonnes, including around 64 million tonnes of Kazakh oil.
