The right to personal data protection in the digital environment will be enshrined in Kazakhstan’s new Constitution. This will enhance the security of correspondence and other electronic communications between citizens, significantly strengthening guarantees of confidentiality and privacy. Particular attention will also be paid to protecting citizens’ digital finances. Experts believe that incorporating these norms at the constitutional level will create a solid foundation for the further development of digital security legislation and, most importantly, increase public trust in digital services.
«I believe the draft new Constitution is particularly
important for citizens who adhere to the principle of adapting their rights and
freedoms to new technological conditions without infringing on them. Digital
solutions have penetrated all spheres of society and become an integral part of everyday life. At the same time, ensuring
personal security has become one of the state’s key responsibilities not only
offline, but online as well,» said Kuat Baigodzhayev, chairman of the Almaty region
maslikhat and member of the Constitutional Commission.
