Zhandos Shaimardanov, a member of the Constitutional Reform Commission and Director of the Kazakhstan's Institute for Strategic Studies, said that constitutional reform in Kazakhstan is a consistent and long-term process of political modernization pursued by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev since 2019. According to him, the reform reflects strong public demand coming from the regions.
He noted that this demand was addressed through the creation of the Constitutional Reform Commission, which includes around 130 representatives from across the country.
Shaimardanov emphasized that the commission's work is highly transparent, with all meetings broadcast live and amendments discussed in working groups article by article.
