National Kurultai section meetings held in Astana

The National Kurultai (Congress) continues to strengthen its position as one of the key mechanisms for shaping the public agenda, as evidenced by the results of the expert platform’s work this year. At a meeting of the sections of the advisory and consultative body, State Counsellor Erlan Karin highlighted steady economic growth, the launch of new production facilities, the creation of permanent jobs, widespread construction of social infrastructure facilities, the continued modernization of transport infrastructure, and other significant achievements. All these positive development outcomes are the result of the large-scale reforms initiated by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the State Counsellor emphasized. He also noted that the parliamentary reform initiated by the Head of State became a logical continuation of a large-scale political modernization within the formula Strong President - Influential Parliament - Accountable Government. Currently, the working group on parliamentary reform is actively engaging with experts and the public, maintaining an ongoing dialogue with society. Karin also specifically addressed the instructions of the Head of State and the proposals put forward by members of the National Kurultai at its fourth meeting held in Burabai.

«We have adopted a special plan consisting of 53 points. It provides, in particular, for the preparation of 10 draft laws on various areas. The plan also includes the adoption of several regulatory documents,» Erlan Karin noted.

A number of important conceptual documents have also been developed, including one that defines the key principles and directions of domestic policy. It is worth noting that some of the objectives set within the framework of the National Kurultai have already been successfully achieved, and work continues. In particular, preparations are underway for a unified program titled «Children of Kazakhstan», alongside the development of legislative provisions on the creation of science cities, the regulation of non-governmental organizations, and comprehensive support for children with special needs. Following the meeting, members of the National Kurultai expressed support for the initiatives put forward by the Head of State and shared their proposals across a number of specific areas. The fifth meeting of the National Kurultai is scheduled to take place in Kyzylorda next year.
