KazMunayGas national company plans to drill 24
exploratory wells by 2029, Chairman of the Management Board Askhat Khassenov
reported to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Khassenov emphasized that
KazMunayGas is focused on the exploration of deep and underexplored areas.
Total investment in this area will exceed $900 million. Major international
companies, including Turkish Petroleum Corporation, BP, and the Croatian
Hydrocarbon Agency, are currently exploring promising sites in Kazakhstan.
Contracts were already signed with Chinese companies CNOOC and Sinopec last
year. In terms of production, oil output
exceeded 26 million tonnes by the end of 2025, which is 10% higher than
in 2024. Three
domestic refineries processed 17.5 million tonnes of crude last year. Work is also underway to
increase gas production by 2.3 billion cubic meters per year at the Prorva
West, Central Urikhtau, and Rozhkovskoye fields. The
Head of State instructed to accelerate geological exploration and ensure the
timely implementation of major investment projects.
