A new seaport will be built in Kazakhstan. The harbor is planned for the
western part of the country, according to the Mayor’s Office of the Mangystau region. A Chinese group of
companies intends to invest $300 million in this strategic project, and negotiations
are currently underway. Experts estimate that the project will contribute to
the formation of a new international transport corridor China - Kazakhstan - Aktau - Baku - Poti - Europe. Its
implementation is expected to reduce cargo delivery times by up to 15 days and
cut transport costs by a quarter. Notably, the new seaport will be constructed
as part of the directives from the Head of State aimed at developing transport
infrastructure and strengthening the country’s transit potential.
